Jane Austen's home until she was 25 years old, the rectory stood in the village of Steventon. A home to Jane, her parents, sister Cassandra, and four brothers, it also served as a school taught by her father. The rectory was taken down many years ago. All that was left was an old pump in the field where the house stood. This painting is based on existing sketches.
